Discover a wide range of plastic scale model ships of the highest quality
Most of the boat models available in scale model making are made of plastic and the most popular brands can be found in our online collection, which are grouped according to their scale (I Love Kit, Trumpeter, Hasegawa, ACADEMY). This collection principally stocks models on a 1:200, 1:350 and 1:700 scale (i.e. ones that are 200 times, 350 times or 700 times smaller than the original machines). Scale is an important factor in boat modelling, even more so than model car making, When you consider that the famous German Gneisenau Battleship was 235 metres long and weighed 31,000 tonnes a model must be scaled down to a size if you want to display it in your living room.
How can you decorate your model ship ?
You will want to use fine quality paints for your model boats and give them a beautiful finish. Discover our online selection of paints, notably the LifeColor brand, which is known for the ability to cover well and can be applied with a brush or an airbrush. More than 250 acrylic colours are available for plastic model boats and can also be used on resin, vinyl, wood, clothing and ceramics. LifeColor also offers themed paint sets to suit your customisation needs, for example, sets for an Italian or American military ship, or even specific pigments to finish the hull or deck of your ship.
So which model ship to choose ?
Among the many models that are available regularly at Scientific MHD, discover the Japanese or American military ships, including the Blue Devil Destroyer "Fletcher Class" on 1:125 scale. This model includes an electric motor and can be equipped with a radio control according to the modifications you make.
If you are more drawn to sails then there are indeed other boats that could tickle your fancy. Discover the Chinese junk ship with its 320 parts, or the Viking boat, which will take you back in time to begin a collection of model ships from the Early Middle Ages.
There are also other types of model ships for special requirements. These include the USMC Landing Craft Air Cushion, which has four rotating propellers and is used by the army to transport equipment and men to coastal areas, as well as aircraft carriers and observation ships in Antarctica. We must not forget some of the symbolic models that have made history (and cinema) including the famous Titanic, which you can find in different scales from the ACADEMY and MINICRAFT brands.
Last but not least, complete your model collection by discovering our submarine collection, namely the French Surcouf or the Triomphant from the HOBBY BOSS range.
