How do you choose your mini compressor ?
The Hobby-Air mini compressor available on our online shop is a mini diaphragm air compressor, requiring a 220-volt power supply. It can generate 1 bar of pressure with its 60-Watt power. With this low power, the mini compressor may not be suitable for all your needs or for all airbrush guns. The airflow is only 10 L/min compared to the 23 L/min of the single piston compressor with or without a tank. However, this mini compressor may come in useful when painting a fragile model. For this type of task, you’ll need to use your airbrush at a low pressure, otherwise you risk damaging the model. The mini compressor’s low pressure of 1 bar will enable you to paint your model with care and precision.
In addition to its more affordable price, the main advantage of the Hobby-Air mini compressor is that it is extremely light, weighing only 2 kg. This makes it less bulky, easy to handle and store away after each use! The only disadvantage of the mini compressor is that it is louder than its piston counterpart. While a piston air compressor generates about 40 decibels, the noise of the mini compressor is 57 decibels. The level of noise is less than a hoover, but a little more than a refrigerator. Your Hobby-Air mini compressor is delivered with its user manual and a power cable suited for 220 volt plugs.
How to maintain your mini compressor ?
Good maintenance is fundamental in maximising the lifespan, so remember to clean the air filter of your mini compressor regularly. If the compressed air is full of dust, this can damage it. It is also important to clean the air tank of your mini compressor to prevent moisture from seeping in. Be careful that your mini compressor does not overheat. This can happen because of its small size, so make sure you never block the ventilation part on it.
This mini compressor is smaller than the single-piston air compressor (also available in our online shop) and is therefore more practical to store and easier to maintain. It can be a very useful tool for your model making projects!
