Specialists in model making and the necessary tools for their creation, Scientific MHD provides a selection of adhesives called "cyanoacrylates" which enable you to fix the pieces of your work with long-lasting results. Select the tube(s) you need, from a selection of sizes and uses that are suitable for most surfaces.
What are cyanoacrylate adhesives used for ?
Cyanoacrylate adhesive, commonly known as "super glue", is a type of instant-bonding adhesive. This specific characteristic is very appealing for model makers as it allows them to free up their hands and not have to sit and hold something together while the adhesive dries.
Another major advantage of cyanoacrylate adhesives is that they are compatible with a wide range of surfaces, including plastics, rubber, glass, leather, metal, porcelain, wood, paper and ceramics. It is, however, important to choose your glue carefully according to the material that you wish to glue. Scientific MHD brings to you the ZAP range from the manufacturer PACER TECHNOLOGY, whose company motto is "A glue for every use". You'll be able to find the most suitable glue within this range for your project or specific need. PACER TECHNOLOGY also manufactures all SUPERGLUE adhesives suitable for DIY at home. These 2 brands of glues are the most well known and appreciated by model makers and DIY enthusiasts all over the world.
Cyanoacrylate glue is the perfect product for making your models long-lasting. These adhesives provide a strong and permanent bond. This means that you need to be extremely careful when preparing the pieces to be glued, making sure they are clean and that you are completely ready to fix them together without making errors.
Choose the right type of glue according to the specific application or use. For example, Zap-A-Gap (56 grams) is perfect for filling joints and has a very quick drying time of 20 seconds! For model making, especially radio-controlled work, choose a glue such as Rubber CA, which is specially designed for fixing rubber. This glue is also extremely durable and resistant to all shocks and vibrations. Be mindful of the size of the tube of glue to avoid any waste. Scientific MHD offers several volumes between 3 grams and 56.6 grams.
What precautions do you need to take when using cyanoacrylate glue and what about storage ?
Before using cyanoacrylate glue, be sure to read the instructions carefully, as cyanoacrylate glues present certain dangers. This glue will always come with an applicator tube for you to apply your glue cleanly.
Cyanoacrylate adhesives can sometimes cause eye irritation and even severe eye damage. They are harmful to the environment and also harmful if swallowed. They irritate the respiratory tract and may even cause cancer if you use them repeatedly without protection. We therefore advise you to wash your hands effectively after use. We strongly recommend you to read the safety data sheets for each adhesive on our website. You will find full explanations of the associated risks attached to each glue and what to do in the event of an accident or inappropriate use.
A closed (unopened) tube of cyanoacrylate glue can be stored for 12 months. However, be sure to keep it in a cool place, at a temperature between 5°C and 10°C.
Once your tube of glue has been opened, it should be kept at room temperature and closed tightly. You can store your cyanoacrylate glue for about 4 to 8 weeks.
