How do you choose the right epoxy adhesive ?
Epoxy glue is a two-component product containing an epoxy resin of varying thickness. When mixed with a hardener, you get an extremely strong product. Choose your adhesive according to the material you want to glue and the desired drying time. For quick repairs, choose a fast-drying epoxy adhesive that will bond to metal, wood, fibre, glass, ceramic, leather and plastic. Opt for our epoxy adhesive that dries in 90 seconds!
Choose an epoxy adhesive that dries between 5 minutes and 15 minutes for thicker joints. One of the primary advantages of these glues is that they do not drip, which keeps the job clean! With these same benefits, you will find transparent glues that are resistant to shocks and vibrations. Other types of adhesive are malleable for up to 15 minutes before drying completely after 30 minutes. Be sure to check the instructions before use.
Because model building is a meticulous activity, opt for epoxy adhesives that come with precision syringes to dispense a consistent mixture. These adhesives will stick to many materials, including rubber and porcelain. Minor mistakes can sometimes occur when glueing and a little adhesive can show. If this happens to you, don’t worry. Choose an adhesive that you can sand after drying for a clean, smooth finish.
How do you apply the epoxy adhesive ?
The ultra-adhesive characteristics of epoxy glue make it a dangerous product, so be sure to read the instructions before use. These adhesives are harmful if swallowed, can cause allergies and skin and eye irritation. You should therefore keep this product out of reach of children.
Make sure you use an applicator found in most boxes to apply the adhesive and never administer this with your fingers.
Before use, squeeze out the trapped air in the tube by exerting a light pressure. Check that the surfaces you wish to assemble are clean and dry, then delicately apply your epoxy glue. Please note that some glues are for single-use only.
