How do you choose your airbrush gun ?
The choice of your airbrush gun will depend on what you want to do with it. There are two types of airbrushes, the siphon airbrush and the gravity airbrush. If you are painting models occasionally, a siphon airbrush will suffice. This airbrush stores the paint in a reservoir underneath and works by sucking it up. The paint is usually contained in a glass or plastic paint cup. It can be used to paint entire models and you can also use it when painting or varnishing extensive areas. The gravity airbrush is recommended if you regularly paint models with a lot of detail and where the amount of paint needed for each part is smaller. With the reservoir positioned on top, it is a finer and more precise airbrush, which should be used for miniature scenery and precision work.
You will find a variety of quality siphon airbrush guns for painting your models to perfection in our online shop. Our RC airbrush spray gun handle is suitable for Ghiant spray cans as well as other brands. The ergonomic handle provides an excellent grip and the intuitive trigger allows the perfect paint flow.
How to use your airbrush gun properly ?
Here are some tips on how to use your airbrush gun. First of all, to ensure a good paint flow, make sure you assess the paint mix and fluidity of the paint and this will help avoid clogging the nozzle. Remember to use both hands when using your airbrush. To help stabilise and guide the gun, you will use one hand to support the other hand, which is holding it. Also remember to adjust the distance of the nozzle from the model, and to adjust the strength of the paint spray. If you want a large spray, you can move up to a maximum of 15 cm away from the model and pull the trigger fully. For a very fine line, place the airbrush nozzle at 5 mm away from the model and pull the trigger as little as possible.
Practise taking your airbrush gun completely apart and putting it back together again. Regular cleaning will help avoid problems with your gun.
How do you maintain your airbrush gun ?
An airbrush is obviously more complex than a simple paintbrush, but if properly maintained, it can stay in good condition for a long time. Whether it's a siphon or a gravity-fed airbrush, remember to clean it after each use to prevent it from clogging up. Cleaning is important to ensure that the spray quality remains impeccable. You can find accessories for this on our website, such as a special airbrush brush or cleaning fluid.
