History of the TITANIC:

The Titanic was a British luxury liner renowned for being the largest and most luxurious of its time. It is tragically famous for colliding with an iceberg and sinking on its maiden voyage in April 1912, resulting in one of the greatest maritime disasters in history.

Construction and Specifications:
The Titanic was constructed at the Harland & Wolff shipyards in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Construction began in 1909 and was completed in 1912.
The Titanic measured approximately 269 meters in length and 28 meters in width.
It had nine decks and could accommodate over 2,400 passengers and crew members.

During its time, the Titanic was known for its luxury and comfort. It featured cabins for first, second, and third-class passengers.
First-class passengers enjoyed spacious areas, elegant dining rooms, luxurious suites, and other lavish amenities.
The ship also offered modern facilities for its era, including a swimming pool, gymnasium, lounges, a library, and more.

The Titanic departed from Southampton, England, on April 10, 1912, for its maiden voyage to New York, USA.
However, the ship struck an iceberg on the night of April 14-15, 1912, in the North Atlantic and began taking on water.

Despite crew efforts to seal the breaches and evacuate passengers, the ship sank into the cold waters of the Atlantic.
The lack of lifeboats and confusion during the evacuation contributed to the high death toll.
More than 1,500 people lost their lives in the disaster.

The sinking of the Titanic had a profound impact on maritime regulations, leading to safety reforms for ships and life-saving equipment.
It also captured the public's imagination and has been widely discussed in media, literature, and cinema over the decades.

The Titanic continues to exert enduring fascination and interest worldwide, serving as a testament to human tragedy and the technology of its time. Books, documentaries, and films, including James Cameron's famous 1997 film, have contributed to perpetuating the history of the Titanic.
