Length of the 447mm /width 94mm model. 6 WildCat and 3 Avengers included in the model. Additional aircraft available as an option (ref 72147). U.S. Navy Task Unit 77.4.3 (Taffy 3) Battle of Leyte Gulf Oct.25, 1944. Free bonus during our first arrival a big post of Box Art 594 x 841 mm. Buildings of modest size, escort aircraft carriers have often acts in the shadow of their big brothers heavy aircraft carriers or squadrons. They still remain that they rendered many services and allowed the success of many operations. The CVE-73 USS Gambier Bay was part of the Casablanca class. He was put into service on December 28, 1943. On October 25, 1944 he faced the Japanese fleet of Admiral Takeo Kurita. Targeted by the powerful Japanese artillery it flows quickly, it is the only aircraft carrier flowed by artillery fire from the whole of the Second World War.\nThe Casablanca were therefore the most prolific aircraft carrier class\nof naval history. Although narrower and more cramped than bugs,\ntheir larger holds made them\nEmbark more planes and fuel. They were also clearly\nfaster thanks to their turbines, coming from rapid cargoos intended\nto escape the Atlantic U-Bootes. They were indeed\nbuilt in record time, the first, the CVE-55 Casablanca,\nBuilded in November 1942, entered active service in July\n1943. The last one, the CVE-104 MUNDA, started in February 1944\nAnd launched in July (be built in five months!). They were therefore ready in time for the major Pacific reconquest operations.\n\n\n
